Integration of Technologies: Emerging Engineering Paradigm – 33rd Indian Engineering Congress

‘Integration of Technologies: Emerging Engineering Paradigm’ is the theme of the 33rd Indian Engineering Congress, the apex technical activity of The Institution of Engineers (India), IEI which has been organized by Udaipur Local Centre during 21-23 December 2018.

The Congress was inaugurated on 21st December by the Chief Guest Mr. R Madhaban, Chairman cum Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Mr. Madhaban, in his speech stated “ we have reached a stage in our technological evolution where radically new and previously unexplored technologies may never be created, or they may be created only by more efficient combinations of existing technologies and incremental innovations.” This is integration of technologies, the theme of the Congress, he mentioned.

During the Congress, Shri Akhilesh Joshi, former CEO of Hindustan Zinc Limited, Shri R Madhaban, CMD HAL and Shri Govind Singh Taunk, former Chairman of Rajasthan Public Service Commission were honored as eminent engineering personalities. A total of 8 Memorial Lectures were delivered by eminent personalities Shri Balraj Joshi, CMD NHPC, Shri N N Sharma, Pro VC of Manipal University, Prof R K Shevgaonkar, Vice Chancellor, Bennett University, Prof. Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur, Prof K K Agarwal, former Vice Chancellor of Indraprastha University, Prof Gautam Biswas,Director, IIT Guwahati and Dr. Abhijit Dagupta, Joint Managing Director of M N Dastur & Co.

An international seminar under the aegics of FEIAP-ICT was organized and addressed by Dr. Ajit Bajpai, DG National Cyber Infrastructure Protection Corporation (NCIIPC) and Mr. Amit Sharma, Additional Director DRDO.

We feel happy to inform you that this year 258 engineers from all over the country and abroad have responded to our “Call for Papers” and submitted their synopsis. Our learned members of the Engineering Division Boards reviewed those papers and shortlisted 184 synopses.

Finally we received 118 papers which were accepted. A total numbers of 112 papers from industries and academia spread across all over the country were presented in 14 technical sessions during the Congress. A Technical Volume with ISBN number comprising 600 pages has been published.

A technical exhibition has also been organized on this occasion.

Delegates from all over the country and delegation from neighboring countries organizations attended this Congress and enriched the proceedings.
